Thank you for your interest and request for information about Neupro®, rotigotine transdermal patch.

Rotigotine transdermal patch (Neupro®) is a new dopamine-receptor agonist formulated in an innovative transdermal delivery system.
This skin-patch provides constant drug delivery over 24h allowing for convenient once-daily administration for the treatment of the symptoms of Parkinsons disease.

The EMEA has approved Neupro for all countries of the European Union with the following indication:
"Neupro is indicated for the treatment of the signs and symptoms of early-stage idiopathic Parkinson's disease as mono therapy (i.e. without levodopa)"

Licensed dose strengths are as follows: 2 mg/24h, 4 mg/24h, 6 mg/24h, 8 mg/24h.

Applications for market authorisation in many other countries of the world (e.g. USA) have been initiated and further licences are expected for the indication as described above.
The development program investigating the benefits of the product in advanced stages of Parkinson`s disease in combination with L-dopa is still ongoing.

In Brazil the product has not yet been licensed for the treatment of Parkinsons disease. For that reason it is difficult to judge at which time in future the product might become available in pharmacies in your country.

If you have a prescription for Neupro from your doctor there might be the possibility to obtain Neupro at an international pharmacy like "Komtur" (www.komtur.com, ulrike.lierhaus@komtur.com, Tel. +49 761 504 230).

Such pharmacies can give you detailed advice whether it is legally allowed to receive the product by mail and what the technical requirements might be (e.g. how to obtain an import licence).
